Mary Foxhoven

April 30, 1933 — August 2, 2014

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Okoboji Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 7th from 5:00-7:00 with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm and a Catholoc Daughters service at 6:30 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Mary Denise Boyles Foxhoven, daughter of Maude Twogood Boyles and Everett Palmer Boyles was born April 30, 1933 in Everly, Iowa. Mary attended Everly Community School where she played basketball for the Everly Cattlefeeders. After graduating in 1951, she worked in a clothing store in Spencer where she met a serviceman, Alvin Foxhoven. They were married on November 24, 1953 and were blessed with five children. They operated a popcorn/caramel corn, candy and ice cream parlor for several years and also owned and operated a pizza and pool business. In 1971, the family moved to Arnolds Park and bought a resort. Mary operated Foxies Resort for twenty five years. She also enjoyed collecting antiques. After retiring from the resort business, she operated Depot 2 Antiques for fifteen years. Mary loved her house on the lake, watching all the events taking place on the water or down in Arnolds Park, especially the fireworks. She loved to cook, bake, play cards and most of enjoyed the visits from her grandkids. Mary passed away August 2, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty-one years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Foxhoven of Spirit Lake; sons, David (Patricia) Foxhoven and family of Arnolds Park, Doug Foxhoven and family of Estherville, Kim (Sonny) Cross and family of Everly and Mark (Louise) and family of Spencer; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Parma Lasche of Des Moines; many nephews, nieces and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Al; five brothers and one sister.
