A funeral service for Mary Miller, age 88, of Milford will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10:30am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 11th after 3:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
Mary Alice Miller was born May 27, 1926 to George and Bernadine (Schemmel) Wintz in Milford, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Milford, attending St. Joseph Catholic School. She worked as a waitress at H.E. Jacobs Grocery Store.
On October 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Warren Miller. The couple made their home in Milford, where they raised their three sons, Steve, Ron and Bob. Mary was a stay at home mom. She served as a den mother all of the years her sons were in Scouts. Mary also worked for thirteen years in the lunch room in the elementary school and answered the fire phone at her home for several years.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. She was also a fifty year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, volunteering and having coffee with friends at the Buy Rite.
Mary passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford at eighty-eight years of age.
She is survived by her sons, Steve and his wife, Marylee, Ron and his wife, Deb, and Bob and his wife, Barb; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren (# six on the way); three sisters; a brother; several nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, her parents, four sisters and a brother.
