Services for Maxine DeShazo, age 63, of Spirit Lake will be 10:30 am Monday, June 15, 2015, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 2 pm Sunday with the family present from 2-4 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Maxine Kay DeShazo arrived at heaven's gate at the age of 63. She passed away Avera McKennan Hospital on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 5:30pm. She was born to Grover "Clifford" and Rachel DeShazo in Estherville on August 30, 1951. She has been a resident of Spirit Lake all of her life. She was educated at Spirit Lake School and graduated in 1972. Maxine was then employed at Style Craft for 30 plus years where she enjoyed working with a variety of different people. Maxine was never married and lived with her mother, Rachel, for many years and they were great companions to each other. Maxine had a heart of gold, she enjoyed taking care of others and helping people in any way she could. She was an avid small dog lover and she always had a companion or two where ever she would travel. She was very strong in her faith and rarely ever missed church, even if she was a little late. She is survived by her sister, Ruth (Verlon) Crisman of Harris; brother-in-law, Richard Meyer of Harris; nieces, Shawn Ranum of Omaha, Shannon (Jeremy) Rensink of Boyden, Jennifer (Alex) Miller of Minneapolis and Diane (Zach) Buxton of Omaha; several other extended family and friends.
