Maxine Louise "Forbes" Morphew was born July 18, 1917 in Harris, Iowa, the daughter of DeWitt and Florence "Fuller" Forbes. She attended and graduated from the Harris Consolidated School.
She was united in marriage to Lee William Morphew on April 30, 1944 in Harris, Iowa. She lived in Harris and Montgomery before moving to Spirit Lake fifty-seven years ago. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park.
Maxine enjoyed listening to the radio, drinking coffee and talking on the phone. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, grandchildren and many friends. She was involved in her church, American Legion Auxiliary and her dogs.
Maxine passed away October 19, 2009 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake Iowa at ninety-two years of age.
She is survived by her children, Linda Morphew of Milford, Florence and Elwin Orwig of Lake Park, Stanton Morphew of Alton, Virginia, Frances and Hans Tegtmeier of Spirit Lake, Steven and Marcia Morphew of Tennessee and Laura Faulkner of Ruthven, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; foster son, Donnie and Lisa Varner of Hanceville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee in 1982, her parents and one granddaughter.
