Mildred Thee

Mildred Florene Thee was born February 15, 1924 in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Florence (Wing) Leth. She was raised in Hartley and graduated from Hartley High School. Following graduation, Millie joined the War Effort by working in a Munitions plant in Los Angeles, California. After returning to Hartley she was united in marriage to Wilbert (Bud) Thee on November 23, 1944 in Worthington, Minnesota. Millie loved raising their three children on the May City family farm until 1967, when they moved to Algona, Iowa. She and Bud also spent 3 years living in Central City, Nebraska and then returning to Algona, where they remained until Bud's retirement from Cargill in 1986. Bud and Millie settled in Spirit Lake to enjoy the Okoboji area. Millie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. She loved going to dances (where she met Bud), visiting with family and friends, driving (not flying) south in the wintertime, playing cards and bragging on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Millie passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty seven years of age. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Doug Thee and his wife Kathy of Lenoir, North Carolina, and Jeff Thee and his wife Cathy of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Thee, Troy Thee, Tonya (Charlie) Radniecki, Tara and Kim Ford and Reghan Thee; step grandchildren, Ashley and Lacey Heikens; great-grandchildren, Ariel Ford-Loosier, Jennifer Theesfeld and Emillie Thee; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Florence Leth, siblings Al and Herbie, husband Wilbert (Bud) Thee, daughters, Pam Thee, and daughter in law, Jerilyn Thee.
