Muriel A. Burgin was born to Olaf and Lillie (Swanson) Lofgren on April 9, 1913 at St. James, Minnesota. She graduated from St. James High School in 1932.
In January of 1938 she was united in marriage to Ralph Robert Burgin and to this union two sons were born; Wesley and Stanley. In 1945 the couple began operating Burgin Cleaners and Clothiers of Milford. Mr. Burgin died in 1972. Muriel continued operating the business many years after Ralph's death. She continued to do sewing and alterations in her home after the discontinuance of the dry cleaning business.
Muriel has been a resident at the Milford Nursing Center since 2005 where she passed away, Saturday, August 16th at 95 years of age. The family is deeply appreciative of the loving care she received from the Milford Nursing Center staff.
Mrs. Burgin was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilt making. Muriel was also gifted at carpentry which she was rather discreet about it because she considered it a man's work.
She is survived by her two sons, Wesley Burgin and Stanley Burgin, both of Milford, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Survivors also include one brother, Clifford Lofgren of Gainesville, Florida.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Blenda Peterson, and four brothers, Alvin, Ronald, Vernon, and Emery Lofgren.
