Nancy "Nan" Woods, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on September 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old.

Born on April 19, 1940, in Swea City, Iowa, Nan was the daughter of Gayl and Mary Ellen (Robinson) Johnson. She met her sweetheart Larry at a high school dance. He proposed to Nan in San Antonio, Texas while he was at basic training for the Air Force.

On April 23, 1960, Nan was united in marriage to Larry Woods, and together they built a life filled with love. Their marriage was a testament to devotion and partnership, and they shared countless cherished memories over the years. Larry and Nan desired to have a large family. Their first child, Timothy was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan while Larry was stationed there. Their second child Jim came to live with them in 1967. Tara, their daughter was born 10 years later.

A woman of great faith, Nan’s unwavering belief was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active and devoted member of her church, Good News Community Church in Okoboji. Many can attest to her love of listening to others’ stories. Having this skill, she helped many understand the hope of Jesus’ healing.

Left to cherish Nan’s memory are her husband, Larry Woods, her son Jim (Peg) Woods, her daughter Tara (Jay) Maier, her granddaughters Micalyn (Ryan) Wood, Esther Maier, Andrean Maier, Jenna Maier, her grandson Lewis Maier, and her siblings Gail Ann (Max) Treat, Gary (Barb) Johnson, Cathy (Mike) Callanan and her brother-in-law’s Ronald (Connee) Woods, Della (Frank) Jeffrey, and Brian (Carol) Woods.
