Funeral Services for Nick Hass, 70, of Okoboji, Iowa will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 3 pm Tuesday, July 5, 2016 with the family present from 5-7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Nickolas Junior Hass was born August 10, 1945 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Harold Henry and Beulah Louise (Purcell) Hass. He was raised in Linn Grove, Iowa, graduating from Linn Grove High School. Nick lived in Arnolds Park and Okoboji, Iowa, where, for the past twelve years has been spent with his life partner, Cheryl Waltman. He worked as a grave digger for several cemeteries in the area, as well as lawn service and snow removal. Nick loved trail riding with his four wheelers, and enjoyed nature. He also enjoyed his trucks and motorcycles. Nick was at home in the Black Hills, riding the trails and viewing wildlife. He also loved playing practical jokes on friends. Nick passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his home in Okoboji, at seventy years of age. He is survived by his life partner, Cheryl Avery Waltman; her children, Dustin Waltman (Allison), and Heidi Miner (Steve Sawyer); grandchildren, Lily, Dexter, Alayla and Aloralei Waltman, Landon Miner, Liberty and Layton Sawyer; brother, Jim Hass (Sue); Cheryl's parents, Jim and Marlene Avery, brother-in-law, Eric Avery and sister-in-law, Lisa Avery Kaminska; nieces and Nephews, Bob Hass (Lisa), Brian Hass (Tammy), Jason Hass (Nele), Jesse Avery (Heather Wuebker), Erica Avery (Jay Nelson), Tara Avery, Lacy Snyder (Kyle), Tyson Kaminska, Tory Kaminska; and 17 great nieces and nephews as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and beloved dog, Bart.
