Paul Donnenwerth

Funeral services for Paul Donnenwerth, 62, of Spirit Lake, will be 10:30 am, Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 3 pm Friday, November 6, 2015, with the family present from 4-6 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Paul Stanley Donnenwerth, the son of Wilbur and Audrey (Heldt) Donnenwerth, was born September 1, 1953 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. After graduating form Lake Park High School, he completed two years of technical school at Western Iowa Tech. On June 30, 1973, Paul was married to Sheryl Lynne Stahly in Lake Park. After living in Harris, Iowa for a short time, the couple moved to Spirit Lake in 1976. Paul owned and operated Paul's Body Shop for thirty-five years and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Paul enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, basketball, football and golf. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, racing and gaming. Paul enjoyed going on family vacations to Minnesota and was also the self-proclaimed (undocumented) Midwest Regional Leg Wrestling Champion. Paul passed away November 4, 2015 at his home in Spirit Lake at sixty-two years of age. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Kristin Gonzales and her husband, Marco and their children, Justin, Jenyce, Jovanni and Julian Gonzales; son, Luke Allen and his wife, Megan and their children, Cole and Etta; mother, Audrey Donnenwerth; sisters, JoAnn (Ken) Carter and Amy (Troy) Jurgens; brothers, Jerry (Laurie) and Mike (Mary); in-laws, Beverly Stahly, Mike Stahly and Sue (Chris) McRae; and several nieces nephews. Paul as preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl; father, Wilbur Donnenwerth; grandparents, Harvey and Katherine Donnenwerth and Rudolph and Dortha Heldt.
