Peg Henderson

A funeral service for Peg Henderson will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, West Okoboji (Milford), Iowa. Interment will be at Lakeview Gardens, Spirit Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Peggy Ann Higley was born on June 2, 1955 in Estherville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Shirley (Moyer) and Robert Higley. Peg graduated from Estherville High School in 1973. She then attended the National College of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota, graduating in 1975. Peg was employed by Iowa State University for several years. After returning to Estherville, she worked in the tax department at the Emmet County Courthouse. She later moved to Snowmass, Colorado for several years where she worked at Sam's Knob Restaurant at the top of Snowmass Mountain. After moving back to Iowa, she worked various positions in Estherville and at Physicians Mutual Insurance in Algona before being employed at Iowa Lakes Electric in 1991. She worked there for twenty-two years before retiring in 2013. On August 20, 1994, she was married to Ken Henderson at their home on Henderson Hill in Spirit Lake. They loved hiking and biking the trails and traveling all around the upper Midwest and Hawaii, where they planned to retire. Peg loved music and enjoyed many concerts. She loved all animals and her cats were a special part of her life. Peg passed away January 16, 2014 at her home in Spirit Lake at fifty-eight years of age. She is survived by her husband, Ken Henderson of Spirit Lake; her parents, Bob and Shirley Higley of Estherville, Iowa; brother, Jeff Higley and his wife, Trudy, of Mackay, Idaho and many cousins and friends.
