A funeral service for Randy Syverson, age 53 of Milford will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church after 4:00 PM with family present at the church from 5 to 7 PM.
Randall D. Syverson was born September 13, 1962, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Duane and Marilyn (Weir) Syverson. He was raised and educated in Estherville, graduating from Estherville High School in 1981. Randy continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community College, receiving his Associate Of Arts degree in the Feed & Fertilizer Program.
On August 20, 1988, Randy had the pleasure of marrying Leanne Domek at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville and for the last 28 years Randy and Leanne have settled down in Milford to raise their two children, Morgan and Dalton.
In his earlier years Randy worked for Beck Excavating - Ida Grove Elevator & Farmers CoOp of Milford until 1999. He then started working for Kaneb Pipeline Service in 1999 which changed ownership to Valero Industries and recently NuStar Energy.
Randy was a member of First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Randy was also an active member of the Okoboji Youth Little League Program throughout the years.
He enjoyed spending time at the family farm by Wallingford - going boating on the weekends with family and friends - mowing yards for other people in his spare time - fishing and an occasional golf game - attending his children's activities through their years of sports - dance recitals - going to the green space concerts in Arnolds Park and sprint car races. He loved playing cards with their card club group - and always showing off his "hand"!
Randy passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at fifty three years of age.
He was survived by his wife Leanne; daughter, Morgan and her husband Brian Bode of Holstein and their children Beckett and Briggs; son, Dalton, attending Iowa State University in Ames; mother, Marilyn Syverson of Estherville; sister, Cheryl (Rick) Houseman and their children Ryan (Brittney) Houseman & Rochelle (Jordan) Goos and their families; sister, Brenda Powell and her children Travis (Haley) & Dakota Powell along with several other beloved family members and friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his father Duane, grandparents, Ernest & Rose Syverson and Lynn and Eunice Weir.
