Raymond Krieger

Raymond Leslie Krieger was born August 2, 1923 in Terril, Iowa to Claude and Herma (Leighter) Krieger. He graduated from Terril High School in 1941. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from February 17, 1943 to January 10, 1946. Much of this time was spent in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. On August 11, 1946, Raymond was united in marriage to Lorraine Thorson at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Iowa. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Susan Rae and a son, Leslie Thomas. They farmed until health problems forced Raymond into semi-retirement. Raymond was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake and Terril American Legion Post #432. Raymond was proud to belong to the Legion for sixty plus years. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing. He loved his home, faith and family. He liked to spend time with his son and his wife in Alaska and his daughter and her husband in Milford, especially all of the holiday dinners. Raymond loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching them grow. Raymond passed away May 9, 2010 at the Hilltop Care center at eighty-six years of age. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Susan Reiman and her husband Jim, of Milford, Iowa; son, Leslie and his wife, Mary of Anchorage, Alaska; grandson, Bradley Reiman and his wife Amy and their sons, Noah, Gaberial and Elijah of Spencer, Iowa; granddaughter, Sarah and her husband Joel Halverson of State Center; two sisters, Leona Larson and Linda Taylor (Dennis), both of Spencer; brothers, Wayne (Mary) of Dickens, Larry (Carol) Delta of Colorado; sister-in-law, Carrie Krieger of Spencer; sister-in-law, Pearl (Virgil) Enockson of West Bend, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Jennifer Reiman; brother, Robert; brother-in-law, Lee Larson.
