Richard A. Mulder

A memorial mass for Richard Mulder, age 77, of Terril, Iowa will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM until the time of the service. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 9:00 AM at the church. Richard A. Mulder was born on December 4, 1938 to Arthur R. and Mathilda C. Determann Mulder at Alton, Iowa. He joined his older brother, Lawrence, and later two younger brothers joined the family, Paul and Kenneth. His dad worked with the railroad which caused the family to move around before they settled in Woodbine, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. Richard met his wife, Alice Gilliland, and they had three sons, David, Matthew R. and Kris G. Mulder. He worked for Brower Blacktop and Jensen Construction in Sioux City and then M & S Chevrolet Garage in Dunlap, Iowa. After the family moved to Lake Park, Iowa in 1977, he was employed by Burns Chevrolet. In 1981, they moved to Milford and he worked for Vanderhaag's as a mechanic and also at Great Lakes Restoration where he loved working on the "old" cars. He could trouble shoot over the phone and helped the boys with any automobile problems. He also worked at Stylecraft a few years. Richard passed away April 14, 2016 at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa at seventy-seven years of age. Richard's wishes were to have his body donated to Mayo Research in Rochester, Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his oldest brother, Lawrence; father, Art; mother, Tilly; uncle, Albert Determann; aunt, Marie Determann; step-son, James Bonham. He is survived by his wife, Alice, of forty-six years; son, David Alan (Colleen) Mulder and their children, Tim, Dani Jo and Shelby Kay of Milford; son, Matthew R. (Terri) Mulder of LeMars, Iowa; son, Kris G. (Carissa) Mulder of Lake Park and their children, Kaylee, Ali Grace and Breanne; step-son, Robert Bonham (Susan) of Terril and their son, Tony; great-grandsons, Connor and Daniel; brothers, Paul (Joan) Mulder of Loveland, Colorado and Kenneth (Sharon) Mulder of Crosslake, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Janet M. Norgaard of Denison, Iowa; his friend, DeLano Petersen of Vail, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
