Richard Lee Voss, son of Lloyd and Marie Voss, was born on January 2, 1945, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was baptized on February 11, 1945, and confirmed on May 31, 1959. Richard spent his days on the home farm in Sioux Valley, while attending Sioux Valley High School. After graduating in 1963, Richard continued his education at Worthington Junior College. On September 10, 1966, he married Linda (Johnson), at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota

Throughout his professional life, Richard worked as a feed salesman, a career that allowed him to form special bonds with his customers, whom he thought of as family. His warm demeanor, quick wit, and infectious humor made him a friend to everyone he met. Richard was a cornerstone of the Sioux Valley area, where he spent his entire life. He was a faithful member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.

He found great pride and joy in supporting his children and grandchildren play sports, and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Gophers, Twins and Timberwolves. He had a love for farming, animals and racing horses. More than anything, Richard treasured the life he shared with his wife, Linda and the time spent with his family.
