Robert Tackett

A memorial service for Robert Tackett, age 77, of Milford and formerly of Sac City, Iowa, will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Harbor of Joy Lutheran Church in Milford. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert D. Tackett was born June 23, 1938 to William H and Dessie E (Gilstrap) Tackett in Laconna, Iowa. The youngest of 15 children. He died peacefully June 18, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He lived most of his life in NW Iowa. He served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. After his return from service he worked in Spencer, Storm Lake and Sac City areas. His hobbies include fishing, traveling, tractor shows, tinkering, socializing, over a cup of coffee, dancing, taking care of people in their homes. But most of all his family. The great grandkids made the last weeks bearable. His last wish was to go to his grandson, Jake's wedding. His wish came through for him one week before he left our world. Bob is survived by his children: William M. Tackett, of Freeport, Ill, Robert D.(Deanna) Tackett of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Brenda (Kevin) Herring of Grand Rapids, Michigan, James (Jody) Tackett of Milford, Iowa and Michael Tackett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters, Virginia Thompson of Sac City, Iowa and Donna Caviness of Spirit Lake, Iowa; special friend, Marelee Tackett; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three adult brothers, one adult sister and several siblings at very young ages.
