Roger William Hett was born January 6, 1941, the son of Harold William and Laura (Niemeyer) Hett in Webster County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Deer Creek Township, Iowa. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church on March 7, 1954. He attended High School at Concordia Academy, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Roger was united in marriage to Rosalie Schultz on August 4, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chenoa, Illinois. The couple was blessed with four children, Stephen, Lora, David, and Kristin.
Roger was educated at Concordia St. Paul, MN, Concordia Sr. College Fort Wayne, IN, and Concordia Seminary St. Louis, MO, culminating in a Master of Divinity. Roger's first call took him to Papua New Guinea as a Lutheran Missionary. He returned to the States to serve the churches of St. John of Hollywood Township and St. Mark of New Germany in Minnesota. He was later called to serve Our Redeemer in Jackson, Minnesota. He retired in April of 2006 and with his wife Rosalie, moved to Lake Okoboji, as first time home owners.
Roger's ministry was very important to him, and he cherished the relationships made with congregational members and fellow clergy. Roger also enjoyed his membership and friendships in Kiwanis at Jackson, MN. He had a fond interest in music to praise his Lord, carpentry, farming, boating, and trains. But mostly, he enjoyed the annual Okoboji family vacations and time spent with all of his grandchildren.
Roger passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008, at Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at sixty seven years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie, and their children and families: Stephen Hett and his wife Sanna, children: Tyler, Justin, Alicia; Lora and her husband Martin Wade, children: Ryan, Amanda; David Hett and his wife Michelle, children: Erica, Matthew, Vivian; Kristin and her husband Jeremy Wrolstad, children: Olivia, William; his brother Harley Hett, wife Sue and family; his sister Phyllis Unruh, husband Dale and family; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rosalie's parents.
