Ronald Heerde

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:30am at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at Northlawn Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11th from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Ronald Dean Heerde, the son of Earnedine (Schroeder) and Willie Heerde, was born February 14, 1943 in Spencer, Iowa. Ronnie was educated at the Excelsior Country School and the Spirit Lake Community School. Early in his childhood, he lived on a farm by the Little Sioux Lutheran Church in rural Milford until he moved to the current Heerde farm near Milford in 1953. He was a member of the Excelsior United Methodist Church. Ronnie enjoyed listening to country and polka music, playing cards and poker with his family and collecting Allis Chalmers toy tractors. He also enjoyed going to auctions, tending his garden, making coffee for those who stopped by to visit and listening to the radio to keep up on local school's sporting events. He also had fun playing bingo and participating in activities with others at the Milford Nursing Center. In 2014 Ronnie moved to the Milford Nursing Center, where he roomed with his brother, Henry. Ronnie passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at seventy-two years of age. Ronnie is survived by his siblings, Willie Jr. (Sonny) Duane Heerde, Henry Charles Heerde and Sharon Kay Heerde; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
