A Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Wintz, age 82, of Milford, will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3rd after 5:00 PM with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford.
Leroy Matthew Wintz, the son of George and Bernadine (Schemmel) Wintz, was born November 22, 1934 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Roy was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1959.
On October 2, 1965, Roy was united in marriage to JoLean (Schmidt) Wintz in Milford. He was a lifelong resident of Milford and was a heavy equipment operator throughout his life. He liked to make old things new again; enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, building wagons, dancing and playing cards. He loved family gatherings, spending time with his family and enjoyed his time with his coffee buddies.
Roy passed away September 28, 2017 at his home in Milford at eighty-two years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Lean Wintz of Milford; two daughters, Lori (Todd) Heckenlaible and Dawn (Ed) Rice; four sons, Scott Wintz, Randy (Jolene) Wintz, Tim (Kristie) Wintz and Andy (Megan) Wintz; grandchildren, Kate, Nick, Cole, Levi, Josh, Emily, Grace, Matt, Cody, Brendan, Avery, Owen and Holt; great-grandchild, Noah; three sisters, Violet, Shirley and Bernie; many other family members.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donnabelle, Mary Alice, Evelyn Mae, Georgene, Carol and Joyce; brother, Robert.
