Sally Hanson (Tischer) passed from this world on April 1, 2025. In her last days, she was surrounded by her large family.
Sally was born on August 13th, 1955, in Spencer, Iowa to Ralph Tischer and Ferel Tischer (Kregger), She graduated Milford High school in 1974. In her time, she picked up an intense love for family that she shared with all of those she knew.
After high school Sally met her husband of 49 years, Bob Hanson, whom she married at the Union Memorial Church of Milford in 1975. She made a beautiful home wherever they found themselves. She raised three children Nathan, Greg, and April all with families of their own. In her lifetime she did her best to instill the importance and value of family. Early in life Sally worked cleaning houses, later working alongside her husband as bookkeeper for cropmate in Terril, IA. When Cropmate was sold unexpectedly she began to work for Nutrien in Lakefield, MN where her dedication shone bright all the way until the end of her career. The long and taxing hours never slowed her down. Even with a work burden, she could always be counted on to be in attendance at every one of her childrens or grandchildren's baseball, volleyball, or football games. She even took up coaching and leading a boy scout troop when the call arose. Not a wrestling match was missed. No school performance went on without her in the bleachers cheering her child or grandchild on.
Sally and her husband Bob built a beautiful home together in Milford. It, like her, was the centerpiece her family revolved around. Countless weekends, holidays, and nights spent around the dinner table sharing life and sharing stories. All manner of life's heartaches and life's joys were shared with her and her family over a meal, a party, or game of cards.
Sally had many hobbies she shared with her family. In her younger years she was an active member of her community. Taking part in the campus women's club, and Milford Pioneer Days. She always looked forward to the trips she could take with family members. She took her kids on trips when her family was young to see relatives across the country. She made a point to take each one of her grandchildren on destination trips to build memories for a lifetime. She organized trips with her siblings from Pennsylvania to Missouri and everywhere in between. She went on cruises and trips with her husband Bob around the world. In the summers she could be counted on to be at a country music festival or concert, always in the front row.
Later in life she honed in on the importance of Christ in her life. Her favorite verse, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”
In her lifetime she battled cancer along with all of life's stresses and she won. She dealt with a range of health issues and prevailed. She was attacked with cancer again which she fought valiantly until her body simply could fight no more. Her spirit gave every effort to spend every possible minute with her family that had all coalesced by her side.
She was the best little sister to all her siblings, Sharon, Sandy, and Stanton who survived her, and Susan and Steven who passed before her.
She was a beloved mother to her children, Nathan and his wife Hilery, Greg and his wife Nikkie, and April and her husband Chad.
A perfect and unmatched grandmother to her twenty-one grandchildren.
And a wholesome and sweet GG (great grandmother) to her six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ferel and her fathers Ralph and Ed; her mother-in-law Bettey Lorene and father-in-law Leo; her grandson Caleb, and many more friends and relatives.
Per Sally’s wishes, a party of celebration will be held at a later date, the atmosphere will be light and celebratory!
