Sharon Heerde

A funeral service for Sharon Heerde, age 69, of Milford, will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:30am at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 3rd from 2:00-4:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Sharon Kay Heerde, the daughter or Earnedine (Schroeder) and Willie Heerde, was born February 9, 1946 in Spencer, Iowa. Sharon was educated at the Excelsior Country School and the Spirit Lake Community School. Early in her childhood, she lived on a farm by the Little Sioux Lutheran Church in rural Milford until she moved to the current Heerde Farm near Milford in 1953. She was a member of the Excelsior United Methodist Church. Even though Sharon was the youngest in the family, she was considered the big sister to her older brothers. Sharon liked to share stories of growing up on the farm, and the polka dances she would attend with her parents and brothers. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels on the farm and had a special place in her heart for her pet sheep named Suzy. Sharon enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, decorating for holidays throughout the year, and shopping. She also had fun paying bingo and participating in activities with her brothers at the Milford Nursing Center. In the fall of 2014, Sharon moved to Hawkeye Assisted Living in Milford. Sharon passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at sixty-nine years of age. Sharon is survived by her siblings Willie Jr. (Sonny) Duane Heerde and Henry Charles Heerde; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronnie and her grandparents.
