Sharyl Ilene Curtis, 62, passed away August 13, 2009 at Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa. Sharyl was born December 15, 1946 to Eldon and Arlowene (Voss) Jansen. She grew up in Sioux Valley, Minnesota until the family moved to a farm near Harris, Iowa. She graduated from Harris Lake Park High School in 1965.
In November 1965, she married Harold Curtis. They set up residence in Sibley, Iowa and welcomed a daughter, Peggy, to the union. Sharyl later returned to the family farm in Harris, Iowa. She worked at Sather's in Round Lake, Minnesota for ten years. She really enjoyed baking, cooking and canning vegetables out of the garden. One of her specialties were chocolate chip cookies, which were enjoyed by everyone.
Sharyl resided at the Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer while she received kidney dialysis for the past ten years. Her pastime at the nursing home was painting dish towel sets for the staff members at Longhouse, nurses and doctors at the dialysis unit and visitors that would come to the nursing home. It was her great joy to sit and paint.
Sharyl is survived by her daughter, Peggy Daigle of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Eric, Laura and Jennifer, all of Baton Rouge; one sister, Sandra and her husband, Gary Widdel of Round Lake, MN; two brothers, Stanley Jansen and his wife, Kay of Sibley and Marlo Jansen and his fiancé, Sherry of Harris; nephew, Jim Jansen and family of Tecumseh, NE and niece, Julie Steichen and family of Sibley.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Eldon and Arlowene Jansen and two brothers, Steven (Luke) Jansen and Stuart Jansen.
