Shirley Holle

A funeral service for Shirley Holle, 77, of Norwalk, Iowa and formerly of Milford, will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Faith Community Church in Milford. Interment will be at Milford Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, with the family present from 5-7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Shirley Ruth Shields Holle was born to Beulah and James Claron Shields on July 16, 1942 in a farm home west of Pomeroy, Iowa. She and her family later moved to Milford, Iowa where Shirley attended school, graduating high school in 1961. Shirley married Raymond Lee Holle on December 1, 1962 and was with him on the Holle farm until Ray's sudden passing in 1990. Shirley and Ray raised two sons, Mike, born in 1963 and Ron, born in 1965. Shirley, Ray and the boys lived on the family farm east of Milford for many years. After Ray's passing, Shirley moved to Spencer, Iowa where she lived until relocating to Des Moines in 2018. Shirley was a former member of Union Memorial Church. She loved basketball, auto racing, Vikings football, word puzzles and music. She especially enjoyed the music of Elvis, Dean Martin and Johnny Cash. Shirley's favorite thing was time spent with her kids, grandkids and other family. She spent many happy hours at ball games, soccer games and music performances. Her happiest times were spent with all the family together, hanging out and having fun. Shirley Holle passed away March 1, 2020 in Norwalk, Iowa following a period of illness, at the age of seventy-seven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents, Beulah and Claron Shields; brothers, Jack Shields and Joe Shields and sister, Sharon Shields Petersen. Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her sons, Mike Holle (his wife, Deb) of Norwalk, Iowa and Ron Holle of Milford, Iowa; grandchildren, Melissa Boyle (her husband, Billy), Shayna Bell (her husband, Spencer), Dalton Holle (fiancé, Meg Buckhotz), Brad Kinkade (his wife, Mikaela) and Sierra Gross; great-grandchildren, Judah Boyle, Carson Holle and Brielle Bell. She will be missed and forever loved by brothers, Jerry (his wife, Gae) of Johnston and Jim of Arizona; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, friends and extended family.
