Steven Branstetter

Steven Hugh Branstetter (Pebe), was born to Leonard and Katherine (Boardman) Branstetter on August 2nd, 1948 in Spencer, Iowa. He attended elementary school in Milford, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Chandler High School (Arizona) in 1967. Everyone lovingly called Steve "Pebe" because his little brother Jerry could not pronounce Steve correctly and it came out as " Pebe" and the name stuck. After graduating from high school, Pebe moved from Arizona to Iowa where he worked at the Milford Elevator, Mid-Continent Bottling Company in Spencer and Plus in Spirit Lake. Pebe was a kind sole that loved to play the piano and sing. He was a self-taught musician of considerable accomplishment. He especially enjoyed being with his family and friends, of whom he had many. Pebe was a religious person and regularly attended Harbor of Joy Lutheran Church in Milford. On Tuesday the 10th of September, Pebe passed away peacefully in Spirit Lake after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Katherine (Boardman) Branstetter (Arnolds Park, Iowa), his father Leonard Branstetter (Chandler, Arizona), brother Keith Branstetter (Milford, Iowa), sister Sally Zweibahmer (Milford, Iowa), brother Jerry Branstetter (Gilbert, Arizona), sister Lucy Smith (Milford, Iowa), and sister Fran Brewer (Hutchinson, Kansas). He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Virgil and Ada (McAfee) Branstetter and maternal grandparents William and Tillie (Knutson) Boardman.
