Todd LeRoy Nance was born August 27, 1964 in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Cordell and Lorna (Wilcox) Nance. He graduated from Terril Community High School and continued his education at ILCC, Iowa State University and Buena Vista. In 1985, Todd enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1988.
On September 3, 1994, Todd was united in marriage to Jeanette Nance in Royal, Iowa. The couple made their home in Royal and Milford before moving to Spirit Lake in 2011. Todd was a member of the Spirit Life Fellowship Church and the Milford American Legion.
Todd enjoyed going to movies, out to eat (especially Chinese), spending time with family and had a great sense of humor. He spent a lot of time in high school playing role playing games with his friends. This was something he and his friends really enjoyed doing. He was always positive and handled his disability with dignity. Todd had a gift for making people smile. He was a very kind, giving, loving and sacrificial husband and father and was always there to listen and care.
Todd passed away October 7, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at forty-eight years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; stepson, Wade Summers (Karen) of Iowa City; sister, Peri Schomaker (Jo-Dee) and their children, Amanda and Stefan, of Osmond, Nebraska; Aunt Kathy Schmelling (Virgil) of Everly, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordell and Lorna Nance; grandparents, Pearl (Clayton) Wilcox and Ira (Gladias) Nance.
