Velma Tesch

A funeral service for Velma Tesch age 81, of Milford, will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paulina, Iowa. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 24th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Velma Ann Tesch, the daughter of Anna (Bronken) and Hermann Petersen, was born April 12, 1936 in rural Paullina, Iowa. Velma was baptized on March 18, 1951 and later confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Church in Hartley. She graduated from Hartley High School in 1954. Velma was employed at Lemke Food Farm until 1956 and then at Hartley Creamery until 1957. On September 30, 1956, Velma was united in marriage to Harlan Tesch and they made their home in Primghar, Iowa. They lived in several places before moving to the Lakes Area in 1994. Velma passed away May 21, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center in Milford at eighty-one years of age. She is survived by her husband, Harlan Tesch of Milford; son, Kelvin (Val) Tesch; daughter-in-law, Rosella Tesch; four granddaughters, Alycia Saxton, Felicia Tesch, Jennifer Honts and Kelly Miller; sister, Marilyn Fiddelke; step-grandchildren, Nikki Woods, Matt Jones, Amanda Jones and Drew Jones; numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Velma was preceded in death by her son, Loren in 2011; parents and grandparents; one brother, Walter Petersen.
