Verda Lucille Woodley, the daughter of Sherman Cutler and Verna Mabel Morris, was born in Estherville, Iowa, on November 3, 1920. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1939.
On February 22, 1943, Verda married Dale Woodley. To thus union six children were born, Marilyn Kay, Wayne Dale, Joel Michael, Kathleen Susan, Debra Lynn and Richard Dean.
Verda enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was involved in many activities throughout her life, working at the Emmet County Courthouse, Iowa State Old Age Assistance Office and was the Committee Clerk for the Iowa State Legislature. She was involved in many activities around Milford and the community. She was an active parent in the Milford School system while her children attended school. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, the charismatic prayer group and the Farm Support Group. Verda joined St. Joseph's Catholic Church shortly after her marriage to Dale.
Dale passed away July, 1993. Verda loved living on the family farm for sixty years until October 1, 2003, when she moved to Wel-Life in Spirit Lake where she resided until moving to Hilltop Care Center in November, 2009. She was an avid reader, loved to play games and visiting with her family and friends were the highlights of her days.
Verda is survived by her brother Richard Morris of Spirit Lake and five children, Marilyn (Colorado Springs, Colorado), Wayne (Arnolds Park, Iowa), Kathy (Englewood, Colorado), Debbie (Lakewood, Colorado) and Rick (Milford, Iowa), five grandchildren April, Aaron, Alana, Ryan and Leah; and eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jake, Ben, Izaak, Anthony, Nathan, Sawyer and Ruby.
Verda is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her brothers Dale, Irvin, Russell, her son Joel and two grandchildren, Nathan and Kyle.
