Vernette Evelyn Imhoff was born on January 9, 1923 in rural Holstein, Iowa, the daughter of Hans and Lillie (Raabe) Serk. Vernette grew up near Holstein and graduated from Holstein High School. Vernette was united in marriage to Arnold Hein on March 9, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. While Arnold was in the service, they lived in St. Louis, South Carolina and San Antonio. After his discharge, they made their home in Ashton, Iowa. Arnold passed away on September 17, 1958.
On October 7, 1960, Vernette married Albert Imhoff at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple moved to Melvin, Iowa in 1960 and after retiring in 1984, they moved to Okoboji, Iowa.
Vernette worked as a waitress for twenty-five years at Cedar Cabin in Ashton, Iowa. She loved fishing, sewing, bird watching and she was an excellent cook. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Vernette became a resident at Hilltop Care Center in 2004. She passed away on May 6, 2008 in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-five years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Imhoff of Okoboji; two daughters, Linda and Dan Seivert of Denison, Iowa and Lorna and Joe Schiphoff of Hartley, Iowa; five grandchildren, Shari Seivert of Redfield, Iowa, Deb (Kevin) Lange of Adel, Iowa, Steve (Shan) Seivert of Urbandale, Iowa, Michael (Marne) Schiphoff of Sanborn, Iowa and Angie (Tony) Graves of Waterloo, Iowa.
Vernette was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Arnold Hein.
