Services for Virginia "Jenny" Danbom will be Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Milford, Iowa. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.
Velma Virginia Louise Danbom was born on a farm in Montgomery, county near Stanton, Iowa on February 26th 1914 to Norme and Ida Danbom. She was known to many as "Jenny." Jenny attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Stanton High School in 1933. Her mother passed away when she was 15. Jenny, her father and brother, Lester, moved to Red Oak, Iowa in 1936.
Jenny worked several years for a Greek family that owned the "Green Parrot". They had a soda fountain and served light lunches. The restaurant had many elite customers. Jenny moved to the Lakes Area in 1973 and was known as the "salad lady" at Vern & Coila's Supper Club for many years Virginia's hobbies included embroidery, crocheting, and quilting. She also enjoyed roller skating and dancing.
Jenny passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Milford Nursing Center, Milford, Iowa at the age of ninety nine.
Jenny is survived by nephews, Jimmy Dean (Jan) Danbom, Jerry Ray (Suzie) Danbom; nieces, Cathleen (Dean) Dodds, and Polly (Tim) Bever; great-nieces and great-nephews, Scott (Julie) Danbom, Brad Danbom, Jeff (Jennifer) Danbom, Cole (Amber) Dodds, Waxela (Brett) Sananda, Rain (John) Sheehan, Nathan Bever, and Amy (Bryan) English; many great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lester Danbom; sister-in-law, Orlyn Danbom; great-nephew, Alex Danbom and her parents Norme and Ida Danbom.
