Vivian Grace Alexander was born November 1, 1909 in Dickinson County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Lillian (Dunaway) Powell.
She married Lyle Alexander in 1932. They farmed near Terril from 1930 to 1957 when they moved to Terril, Iowa. Lyle operated the city's service station and Vivian operated a beauty shop in their home for many years. She loved working in her garden and raising many chickens and turkeys. She cherished the moments with her children and grandchildren and knitted afghans for each of them.
Vivian had a zest for life's adventures. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Terril, Iowa and later in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Vivian Alexander passed away July 15, 2010 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at one hundred years of age.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Donald of Wichita Kansas, Duane (Rita) of St. Joseph, Missouri and Curtis (Linda) of Sequim, Washington; two daughters, Shirley Olson (Larry) of Okoboji, Iowa and Dianne Roberts (Cecil) of Richmond, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Nora Blanchfield of Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Lyle, her parents, four sisters, six brothers, one grandson and one granddaughter.
