Willard Born

A funeral service for Bill Born, age 81, of Milford, will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11:00am at the First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday after 10:00am at First Lutheran Church. Willard D. Born, the son of Luverne (Metzler) and Henry Born, was born on September 29, 1933 in Waseca, Minnesota. On October 1, 1955, Bill was united in marriage to Dorothy Engelhardt in Waseca. Bill worked for RUAN for several years as a fuel truck driver. In 1968, Bill and his family moved to Milford, Iowa. Bill most enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and fishing on Lake Okoboji. He also enjoyed playing pool, playing cards, cheering for the Vikings and a piece of chocolate would always bring a twinkle to his eye. Bill passed away July 18, 2015 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty-one years of age. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Titterington (Tim); two sons, Kim Born (Denise) and Craig Born (Saralyn); seven grandchildren, Amber Hallengren (Ken), Blake Titterington (Sherry), Cole Titterington (Sarah), Dylan Titterington (Amanda), Kourtney Born, Kollin Born and Julia Mason-Born; two brothers, Marlon Born of Texas and Jerald Born of Minnesota; two sisters, Bethel Miller (Gordon) of Minnesota and Judith Johnson of Missouri; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Luverne Born; one brother, Wallace Born; wife, Dorothy (Engelhardt) Born and companion, Helen Fisher.
