Graveside services for William "Bill" Davis, 89 of Harris, Iowa will be Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Cemetery, Harris, Iowa. Celebration of Life for family and friends will be at the Harris Community Center following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harris United Methodist Church, PO Box 446, Lake Park, Iowa 51347 or Friends of the Library, Iowa Department for the Blind, 524 Fourth ST, Des Moines, Iowa 50309. William Francis Davis, 89, of Harris, Iowa died Monday, September 15, 2014, at Hilltop Care Center; Spirit Lake, Iowa. Born December 2,1924, in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of Daniel and Margaret Lindley Davis and was the oldest of eight children.The family moved to Harris in 1930 where they were engaged in farming. He married Roberta Reinholz March 3, 1945 in Ocheyedan, Iowa. In 1946 the couple moved to Ames, Iowa to begin farming and started their family. In 1959 Bill and Roberta moved to the Davis family farm south of Harris to continue farming and completed their family of six children. Upon retiring from the farming business, they had the good fortune to travel to Texas for 29 years. They enjoyed taking various routes and side trips exploring several states. Bill was an avid amateur photographer and captured much of the beautiful scenery on camera which he framed for family and friends. Bill entered the Hilltop Care Center on Friday, August 1, 2014 and was a resident there until his death. Bill was an active long-time member of the United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Roberta(Bobbie) Davis, two sons, Don(Daphne) Davis, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Karl(Becky) Davis, Lake Park, Iowa; four daughters, Susan(Mick) Maifield, Cary, Illinois, Leslie(Steve) Schroeder, Waconia, Minnesota, Cindy(Bill) Ewert, Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Dori(Harry) Sullens, Byron, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
