Obituary of Florella Olsen

Florella was born April 3, 1922 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Forrest L. Doten and Flora LaRock Doten. Florella grew up in the Michigan and Vermont area. She received most of her education in Michigan. She moved to the Omaha, Nebraska area and worked for several years. She was united in married to Lynn Schoening of Estherville, Iowa on Feb 16, 1946 in Estherville and lived near Superior and Estherville all of their married lives ,where Florella was a dedicated homemaker. After Lynn died in 1970 Florella married Curtis Christopher Olsen on October 20, 1972 in Estherville. Together they shared 6 years. Florella always wanted children and when she married Curtis she became a step mother to seven children and their families and loved it. In 1984 she moved to Holiday, Florida to be closer to her brothers and sister. She loved Florida and lived there until 1999 when she moved back to Iowa to be with her only living sibling, Marjorie Beck and family. In 2001 she moved to an assisted living facility, Wel-Life in Spirit Lake, where she remained till her death on July 30th. Florella loved people and loved to visit. One of her favorite things to do was to play cards and she took it very seriously. She was an accomplished solitaire player. She was baptized by Pastor Lynn Potter of the United Methodist Church in Estherville on September 20, 2000 to confirm her faith in Jesus Christ. Survivors are: nephews, nieces, cousins, step-children and step grandchildren along with several great nephews and nieces, family and friends. The nephew and nieces who grew up near her were; (Cliff) Cliff & Cheryl Beck of Spirit Lake, IA and family; (Alice)Mark & Alice Leiss of Spirit Lake, IA and family; Juanita Nnanna of Las Vegas, NV and family; (Linda)Linda & Travis Krumm of Kearney, MO and family. Surviving step children are (Gaylord) Gaylord & Donna Olsen of Great Bend, KS and family; (Wanda) Bob & Wanda Jacobsen or Ruthven, IA and family; (LeAnn) Jerry & LeAnn Beaver of Calimesa, CA and family. She was preceded in death by her niece, Marsha Olsen Myers, her four siblings,
