Obituary of Orlin Trojahn

Orlin John Trojahn was born October 14, 1935, in Hartley, Iowa, the son of John and Ella Trojahn. Orlin was raised in Moneta, Iowa before moving to Milford in 1947. He graduated from Milford High School in 1954. On June 9, 1957, Orlin was united in marriage to Diane Dingel. The couple first made their home in Fostoria, where he worked at Farmer's Cooperative. He later worked at Purina Foods as well as the Spencer Elevator. In 1971, the family moved to Terril, where he worked with his father-in-law, Ken Dingel. He eventually became part of the KD Farmland Corporation. Orlin was affiliated with the United Methodist Church in Terril. He was also a member of Dickinson County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, beekeeping, attending the Okoboji Summer Theatre, gardening, gardening and more gardening. Orlin passed away suddenly Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his home in rural Terril. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Diane; children, Tamera Frederick (Doug) of Milford, Teresa Larson (Jeff) of Milford, Kendall Trojahn (Nancy) of Terril, Karen Strom (Daniel) of Jackson, Minnesota and Karla Lindsey (Craig) of Spirit Lake. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Roberts, June Rose Bruns (Irel), Marvin Trojahn (Lois) and Allen Trojahn (Joyce); many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Velma and Ray Mullins, Leota and Bryan Aldrich, Dorothy and Elmer Meelhause, and Ruth-Ann and Jack Petty and Ray Roberts.
