Obituary of Russell John Schroder

Russell John Schroder was born to Henry and Idena Schroder at Sibley, Iowa on November 2, 1925. He graduated from the eighth grade and then helped his father farm during World War II. On October 30, 1949 he married Betty Lorraine Young in Dickinson County. They lived on a farm near Melvin for a couple years, then in Arnolds Park during their children's school years and at Milford in recent years. Some of the various employers he worked for during his lifetime include: Baschke Produce, Ford dealership in Spirit Lake, Holiday Gas Station in Spencer, and Style Craft. He was a "Man of All Trades." He sold advertisement on the side and established his own lawn mowing business in his retirement years. Russell was a very hardworking man and was never without at least one job. The longest he ever went without a job was two days. He was a very social man and loved to play Bingo. He enjoyed collecting coins. Mr. Schroder passed away, Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Longhouse Care Center in Spencer at 83 years of age. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter, Norine (Nern) Black, son, Jeffrey Schroder, sister, Wava Braun, five grandchildren, Jamie Fricton, Culley Fricton, Kasey Black, Allison Black and Jade Schroder and four great grandchildren, Devan Dryden, Mackenzie Fricton, Ashton Fricton and Kaitlynn Fricton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Idena Schroder, and brothers, Gary and Warren Schroder.
