Obituary of Clymene Jacobsen

Clymene Jacobsen was born July 24, 1920 Montgomery, Iowa, the daughter of Blaine and Lillie (Johnson) Tuttle. She was raised and educated near Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit Lake High School. Clymene then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She worked at Dickinson County Treasurers Office in Spirit Lake for a short time before working at the ASCS Office for over twenty years, beginning in the mid 1950's. On January 26, 1946, Clymene was united in marriage to Jurgen Jacob Jacobsen at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Lake Park. The couple made their home on a farm north of Lake Park, where they raised their family. Clymene moved to Spirit Lake in 1986, following the death of her husband. In July 2001, she moved to assisted living in Osceola, Iowa. Clymene was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. She was currently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Presbyterian Women. She was also active on several Presbyterian boards and committees. She was an avid volunteer in the community, and loved gardening, especially flowers. Above all, her main interest was her family, and will be remembered for her smile and her loving, caring ways Clymene passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Osceola, Iowa, at eighty-eight years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Marian Hansen. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Terry Jacobsen and his wife, Sheryl, of Osceola, IA and Jerry Jacobsen, and his wife Juanita, of Mabel, MN; five grandchildren, Brent (Andrea) Jacobsen, Ankeny, IA, Justin Jacobsen, Mabel MN, Jared Jacobsen, Minneapolis, MN, Ashley (Jon_Paul) Shores, Olathe, KS and Jessica Jacobsen, Mabel, MN; five great-grandchildren, Allison Price, Dayton, and Ava Jacobsen and Berit Shores; three sisters, Mylee (Arden) Nicols, Glasgow, MT, Bernice (Thomas) Massaro, South Pasadena, FL and Josephine Meyerhoff, Sickerville, NJ; sister-in-law, Pat Jacobsen, Sarasota, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
