Obituary of Vivian Ripka

Vivian Pauline Ripka was born January 25, 1921 in Canton, Illinois, the daughter of William and Louise (Meleon) Millslagle. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1939. On September 26, 1942, Vivian was united in marriage to Gilbert Ripka in Kewanee, Illinois. The couple made their home in Kewanee, Illinois. During WWII, Vivian lived in Dearborn, Michigan for a short time. They moved to Spirit Lake in 1958, where she worked as a seamstress at Carpenter Interiors. Vivian attended the Spirit Lake Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and painting. Vivian passed away on July 29, 2008 at her home in Spirit Lake at eighty-seven years of age. She is survived by her sons, James Ripka of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Waye Ripka of Conway, Arkansas; daughter, Linda Rubis of Spirit Lake; sister, Marjorie Cox of Kewanee; grandchildren, Nichole, Tina, Alysia, David, April, Gregg, Gary and Glenn; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Rebecca, Ashley, Graycen, Hayden, Emery, Garrett and Seth. She was preceded in death by her parents; William and Louise Millslagle, husband, Gilbert and sister, Phyllis Cox.
