Obituary of Alene R. Hanson

Alene Rae Hanson, 72, of Arnolds Park, Iowa passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Spencer Hospital. Alene was born September 24, 1935, in Arnolds Park, to Ray and Avis Shoemaker. On June 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Bob Hanson at the First Lutheran Church in Milford, They have two children, Karen and Ken. Alene graduated from the Milford Community Schools in 1953. She was active in many community events, serving as President of WELCA and was a Sunday School teacher at First Lutheran. Alene worked in bookkeeping and management positions for area firms, opening her own business, Web Graphics, in 1970. Her company served The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's agricultural products division nationally, and grew until her retirement in 1999. Alene enjoyed gardening, travel, the beach and having her grandkids visit "Camp Grandma." She especially loved winter months on the Florida coast and international travel with beloved husband, Bob, and friends. Alene is survived by the family that she loved and treasured: husband, Bob, of 54 years; brother, Mike Shoemaker, and wife, Judy, of Camarillo, CA; sisters, Linda Panknin of Camarillo, and Carol McCain and husband, Carl, of Lemorre, CA; two children, Karen Lee of Oceanside, CA and Ken Hanson and friend, Clare Wynne of Milford; and seven grandchildren, Nicole, Kecia, Adam and Whitney Lee all of San Diego, as well as Kyle, Emilee and Jordan Hanson of Arnolds Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Avis Shoemaker and brother, Ralph Schoemaker.
