Obituary of Augusta Leitch

Augusta Leitch was born on November 5, 1909 in Parker, South Dakota, the daughter of August and Augusta (Wieners) Vicarius. The family moved to a farm east of Milford when Augusta was four years old. She was raised and educated in Milford, graduating from Milford High School. Upon completing a summer teacher education course, Augusta became a country schoolteacher for five years. On June 6, 1933, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Leitch at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Together, the couple farmed and raised a family of three children, Marilyn, Duane and Linda. Augusta was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Lady of Lake Circle. Augusta was accomplished at gardening and needlework. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and most of all, visiting with family and friends. After they retired from farming in the mid 1970's, the couple moved into town. Augusta moved to Milford Nursing Center in August, 2007, where she passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 at ninety-eight years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and husband, Wilbur. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Beck (Walt) of Spencer, Duane Leitch (Harriet) of Des Moines, and Linda Muller (Steve) of Stoughton, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Scott Beck (Sara), JoLynn Vos (Tim), James Muller (Emily) and Dr. Justin Leitch (Sally) and five great-grandchildren.
