Obituary of Gladys Brinkley

Gladys Carrol Brinkley was born July 23, 1918 in Dickens, Iowa the daughter of William and Isabelle (O'Clair) Stukey. She was raised and educated in Dickens, where she was active in basketball, drama and other high school activities. On August 22, 1936, she was united in marriage to Dale Brinkley in Spencer, Iowa. In 1937, the couple moved to the Milford area, where they farmed until retiring in 1970. Gladys was affiliated with the Methodist faith, and was baptized June 14, 1925 at the United Methodist Church in Dickens. She was a member of the Okoboji Township Woman's Club and was a girls 4H Leader. She enjoyed playing cards and especially loved to play Kings On The corner with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed needlework and embroidery, doing dresser scarfs, pillowcases and dishtowels. She is survived by her children, Carol Koep of Milford, Donald Brinkley and wife, Judy, of Milford, Dwight Brinkley and wife, Mary, of Lawrence, Kansas and David Brinkley and wife, Christy, of Iowa Falls, Iowa. Also surviving are grandchildren, Karen Coombs and husband Cecil, Bruce Koep and wife Kim, Jean Rumbaugh, Alan Koep and wife Sheryl, Julie Bahl and husband Mike, Chris Brinkley and wife Teresa, Elizabeth Brinkley and fiancé, Makakaloa Pateta, and Adam Brinkley and wife Sarah; great-grandchildren, Shane Coombs and special friend Julia Samuelson, Bruce II, Brandon, Kristen, Tabitha and Daniel Koep, Weston and Andrew Rumbaugh, Alexandria and Sophia Koep, and Justin and Kelly Bahl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, in 1987, her parents, grandson, Daniel Brinkley, brother, Leo Stukey and sister Lily Fitzloff.
