Obituary of Carl Griese

Carl Rodney Griese was born March 27, 1936 the son of Henry and Helen (Frey) Griese in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He attended the Melvin High School. On April 11, 1957, Carl was united in marriage to Colleen Woltersdorf in Sibley, Iowa. The couple lived in Melvin before moving to Round Lake Township in Round Lake, Minnesota in 1969. The couple was blessed with three sons and three daughters. Carl worked as a farmer and at the Round Lake Elevator. Carl enjoyed gardening, watching baseball, fishing, popping popcorn and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church. Carl passed away on September 21, 2007 at the Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at seventy-one years of age. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; three daughters, Cindy and Kevin Place of Sioux Valley, MN, Patty and Tony Alcorn of Marshall, MN, Rebecca and Neal Luitjens of Lake Park, IA; three sons, Doug Griese of Worthington, MN, Mike and Sandy Griese of Mt. Lake, MN, Bryan and Deb Griese of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Margaret and her husband Lloyd Slykhuis of Brewster, MN; brother, Donald and his wife Norma Griese of Melvin, IA; mother and father-in-law, Lester and Katherine Woltersdorf of Sibley, IA; sister and brother-in-law, Jeff and Darcy Schultz of Melvin, IA. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.
