Obituary of Denton E. Wunder

Denton Earl Wunder, Sr. was born March 4, 1932 in Milford, Iowa, to Hans Samuel and Myrtle Mae (Funk) Wunder. Denton was raised and educated in the Milford area, graduating from the original Okoboji Consolidated School in 1949. Young Denton was a music lover, learning the guitar from Dr. Sieman, playing throughout the area performing occasionally on local radio. Denton served his country in the US Army, training as a radio operator at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was deployed to the Korean Peninsula from October, 1952 through August 1954. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Denton married the love of his life, Marie Theresa Sporrer (also of Milford) on September 13, 1954 in Des Moines. During their fifty-three years and two days together, they raised four children. In 1985, Denton converted an enjoyable hobby into a successful family business, creating and operating Wunder Upholstery, virtually until the day he died.
