Obituary of Stella McFarland

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:30am at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. Mrs. McFarland passed away at her residence in Lake Park on December 3, 2012 at ninety two years of age. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund to benefit Harris Lake Park Library. Agnes Stella McFarland was born March 4, 1920 to Bernard Franklin and Lizzy Mae (McConnell) Draper in Manchester, England. Her education was British equivalent to high school. She lived in Manchester, England and served on the Manchester Fire Service during the bombing of Manchester. Stella married Lawrence DeVere McFarland and moved to Lake Park as a war bride after World War II. She was employed as a secretary to the high school principals office in the 60's and 70's. Her hobbies and interests included flower and vegetable gardening, formal flower arrangement, service to Presbyterian Women and HLP Band Mothers, and a lifeguard at the family swimming dock. Stella passed away December 3, 2012 at her residence in Lake Park, at ninety-two years of age. Stella was preceded in death by her daughter Heather McFarland, son Derrick McFarland, sister Doreen Draper, and husband Lawrence McFarland
