Obituary of Avis Hoffman

Avis Marie Sorensen was born to Fred and Frances Sorensen on September 2, 1927 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Avis was the second of eight children; Betty, Verland, George, Donald, Carole, Larry and Rhonda and was proceeded in death by Betty, Donald, and Rhonda. Avis was swept off her feet by her neighbor, Virgil Hoffman, whom she was married to for 64 years before Virgil's passing in 2009. Virgil and Avis raised three children, Kerry, Debbie and Val, on their farm outside of Milford, IA. Avis enjoyed her time as an operator for Midwestern Bell where she retired after 28 years of service. She spent her retirement enjoying her grandchildren, working at Casey's and spending time playing bridge with her friends. Avis is now enjoying the great Bridge game in the sky with many of those she loved. Avis is survived by her children and their spouses; Kerry & Inga Hoffman, Debbie & Jody Witt and Val & Al Place, her 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
