Obituary of Mary Hanson

A memorial service for Mary Hanson, age 83, of Milford, will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 11:00AM at Good News Community Church in Okoboji. Mary Alvina Strickler Hanson, the daughter of Margaret (Siver) and Henry Strickler, was born March 31, 1936 in Muskegan, Michigan. On June 26, 1954, Mary was married to George Leroy Hanson in Muskegon. They lived in Wisconsin and California before moving to Iowa in 2012. Mary was involved in the High School Booster Clubs, served as a girls scout leader and baseball/softball coach. She enjoyed playing bingo and Bunco, gardening and was known for her epic Christmas parties. Mary passed away January 10, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Milford at eighty-three years of age. She is survived by her children, George Hanson Jr., Kris Hanson, Robert (Bob) Hanson, Patty (Lee) Hoferman, Monika Juario and Kelli (Isom) Manning; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff, Lance, Steven, Michael, Dakota, Jonathan and Joshua; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Glenna (Derbyshire) and Ted Strickler. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George; siblings, Evelyn Beck and Millie Ackerman; parents, Henry and Margaret.
