Obituary of Irene McNeill

A funeral service for Irene McNeill, 98, of Spirit Lake will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Irene passed away February 21, 2020 at her home in Spirit Lake. Irene Carol Johnson was born June 13, 1921 to Frank and Cora (Larson) Johnson at Lone Rock, Iowa. The family, which included her older sister Grace, moved to and farmed in the Wesley, Iowa area where Irene graduated from the Wesley High School in 1938. On April 10, 1940 Irene married Paul Francis McNeill. They farmed in the Algona, Iowa area until moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1962. They raised four children: Theodore Paul, Sherryll Gertrude, Rachel Grace, and Kathryn Kora. Irene was a homemaker and in 1963 went to work at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital where she worked for over 20 years as Ward Secretary and Medical Records Secretary. Most important to her was her family and serving God through her church. Before her illness she had been attending Crosswinds Church. She also loved to travel, take photographs, and scrapbook. Irene is survived by her daughter Rachel (William) Vick, daughter Kathy McNeill, daughter-in-law Sharon McNeill, son-in-law Lynn Kueck, seven grandchildren: Marcie (Terry) McNeill Miller, Timothy (Stephanie) McNeill, David McNeill, Jennifer (Korey) McNeill Seales, Daniel (Emily) McNeill, Shain (Christine) Vick, Heather (Darren) Vick Conradson, 21 great-grandchildren: Cody (Lacey) Miller, Jessica (Curtis) Miller Nish, Nick Miller, Kaelee (Ryan) McNeill Freeman, Joseph (Bethany) McNeill, Austin (Erica) McNeill, Cora McNeill, Kyle Seales, Kole Seales, Kael Seales, Molly McNeill, Augustin McNeill, Paul McNeill, Adam McNeill, Matthew Miller, Faith Miller, Adison Vick, Bradin Vick, Maleah Vick, Daxton Conradson, Breah Conradson, 5 great-great-grandchildren: Evelyn McNeill, Rowan McNeill, Timothy Freeman, Carter Nish and Teddy Miller. Irene was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Cora Johnson, husband Paul McNeill, sister Grace Simpson, son Ted McNeill, daughter Sherry McNeill, granddaughter Kristine Kueck, granddaughter Karla Kueck Miller, and great-granddaughter Joy Miller. Irene was greatly loved, greatly respected, and will be greatly missed by her family, but we rejoice in knowing she is with Jesus and all who have gone on before her and we will see her again.
