Obituary of Alvin Kruse

A funeral service for Alvin Kruse, age 90, of Milford, will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, March 6, 2020, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji with Pastor Brian Jack officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from noon until service time at the church. Interment will be at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, Iowa. Alvin Donald Kruse, the son of Dick and Marie (Mayland) Kruse was born April 2, 1929, on a farm near Adrian, Minnesota. His family moved to a farm near Bigelow, Minnesota in 1940. Alvin attended high school in Worthington, MN, graduating in 1946. Alvin joined the Army and was stationed in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma from June 1951- June 1953, serving in the artillery. He enjoyed an Honor Flight to Washington, DC, in 2016 along with his brother Arnold. Alvin was a member of First Lutheran Church in Milford. He was united in marriage to Joyce (Bauman) on July 8, 1952. During their 33-year marriage four children were born. He farmed for the entirety of his marriage to Joyce near Bigelow, MN. Alvin was later married to Delores (Grems) from 1988 to 2010, residing in Spirit Lake, and later Milford. He was a crop insurance adjustor for Great American Insurance Group from 1996 until 2019. He enjoyed watching the Twins, the Vikings, Iowa Hawkeye sports, welding, tinkering in his garage, and fabricating creations. At the age of 83 he went skydiving with his grandson Jeremy. Alvin loved to sing and could be heard singing every day. Alvin passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at ninety years of age. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Maureen (Dan) Breuker of Lake Park, IA, De Linda (Grant) Leu of Spencer, IA, and Carmen (Jim) Howard of Pleasant Prairie, WI, daughter-in-law Teresa Kruse, grandchildren Jennifer (McGrath) Bastiaanse, Ryan McGrath, Mallory (Breuker) Snyder, Tyler Breuker, Amanda (Leu) Washburn, Jeremy Leu, Becky Leu, Ava Howard, Harry Howard, Haley Howard, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Marie; infant brother Albert Kruse; brothers Art Kruse and Arnold Kruse, son Don Kruse; and wife Joyce Kruse. Blessed be his memory.
