Obituary of Dale Jurgensen
A funeral service for Dale L. Jurgensen, 69, of Lake Park will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park.
Dale Lester Jurgensen of Lake Park, IA, age 69, passed away on June 24, 2020, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Dale was born on July 4, 1950 in Worthington, MN, the son of the late Mansel and Irene (Buethien) Jurgensen. He grew up and attended school in Round Lake, MN.
Dale was united in marriage to the love of his life, Melinda (Dow) Jurgensen, on January 14, 1978. After marriage they lived in Harris, IA and eventually moved to Lake Park, IA. They shared forty-two love filled years together.
Dale was a forklift mechanic at Sather’s Cookie and Candy Company and a garage supervisor for Sather’s Trucking for 35 years. He worked for Sather’s until the company closed. He then worked for Polaris until he retired in July 2016. After retiring, he began his dream job doing grounds maintenance for the City of Lake Park. Dale enjoyed fishing, John Wayne movies, reading, watching football and basketball. He was very passionate in his love for the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Lakers. He also adored watching his beloved wife perform with her quartet and the Spirit of Harmony chorus.
Dale was nothing less than a true survivor. In all his years, no matter what obstacle he encountered, he found a way to overcome. He was a hero in the eyes of his children. He loved his three children unconditionally, always looking to spend time with them. His grandchildren meant the world to him and family was his rock.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melinda Jurgensen, Lake Park, IA; one daughter, Tammy Pacholl, Sioux Falls, SD; two sons, Joshua (Emily) Jurgensen, Ankeny, IA; and Jeremy (Tiffany) Jurgensen, Lake Park, IA; seven granddaughters, Autumn, Arianna, Ellie, Tatum, Rowan, Brynna and Sophie; two sisters, Sharon Meyer, Round Lake, MN and Rosie Schumann, Round Lake, MN; sister-in-law, Debbie East, Bolivar, MO; three brothers, Larry (Darleen) Jurgensen, Kansas City, MO; and David (Diane) Jurgensen, Worthington, MN; and Stan Jurgensen, Round Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Betty Rehborg; brother-in-law, David Schumann; brother-in-law, Michael Dow; and brother-in-law, William Meyer.
