Obituary of Jean Derflinger

Funeral services for Jean Derflinger, age 63, of Emmetsburg, formerly of Arnolds Park will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at Turner Jenness Funeral Home. 

Jean E. Derflinger, the daughter of Dick and Enid (Merschon) Derflinger, was born August 14, 1957 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Arnolds Park, Iowa. In her younger days, Jean participated in special olympics and you could see how much she loved it by all of her ribbons.

In 2003, she moved to Kathleen's Care in Emmetsburg, Iowa where she was a home helper with the other residents in her home. Jean enjoyed music, dancing, coloring, movies and loved spending time with her sister, Mary. She also loved food, her favorite being chocolate malts and butterscotch pudding. All in all, Jean loved people, especially her family at Kathleen's.

Jean passed away October 22, 2020 at Mercy One Hospice in Mason City, Iowa at sixty-three years of age.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Derflinger (Greg); two nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Dick; mother, Enid; two brothers, Dickie and Steve; sister, Shirley and nephew, Cory.
