Obituary of Rebecca Johnson

A memorial service for Rebecca Johnson, 64, of Milford, will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Downtown Church in Milford. Visitation will be held Monday, January 24th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.

Rebecca Carol Johnson, the daughter of Herbert Pershing and Anna Laura (Parr) Ross, was born July 14, 1957 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She spent a few years in Florida and South Dakota before moving back to Milford, Iowa in 1983.

On May 1, 1984, Becky was married to Michael Johnson in Milford, Iowa. Becky was a stay at home mom and grandma.

Becky was the most selfless and loving person you will ever meet. Becky spent many years working at area daycares loving and caring deeply for other people’s babies. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world and would be the first one to give you the shirt off her back. Becky put everyone before herself and some would even call her a saint. Becky had the biggest heart and loved so deeply. Becky enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, quilting, spending time with her family and nurturing her grandkids. Becky loved doing puzzles, playing board games, traveling and helping the community. Most of all, Becky loved bringing love and laughter to those around her.

Rebecca passed away January 17, 2022 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

Becky is survived by her husband, Mike Johnson; children, James Van Maanen, Matt Van Maanen, Jeremiah (Gina) Johnson and Ethan (Brittany) Johnson; eleven grandchildren, Ian, Gavin, Levi, Stormy, Diedrich, Taylor, Liam, Keira, Brynlee, Beckett and Brielle; brothers, Chuck, Jerry, Dave and Denny; sisters, Marilyn and Sara; many other relatives and friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Anna Ross; sisters, Josephine Ross, Patricia Smith and Marcia Marchand; and several other relatives.
