Obituary of Arlen Voss

A Memorial Service for Arlen Voss, age 89, of Lake Park will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 1:00pm at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 3:00-6:00pm at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park.

Arlen Claus Voss, aged 89 years, 5 months, and 20 days, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Arlen was born to Claus and Norma (Von Holdt) Voss in Lake Park. Arlen grew up and spent much of his life in Lake Park.

Arlen was united in marriage to Carol Vachuska. The couple celebrated over 67 years of marriage.

Arlen has been retired for several years, but his working years were spent contributing his skills to Arnold Grain and Feed Elevator and G&S Garage in Lake Park.

In his leisure time, Arlen found joy in the simplicity of life's pleasures. He enjoyed tinkering with small motors. Above all else, he treasured the moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had an affinity for classic western movies, the timeless tunes of Lawrence Welk, and the humor of Hee Haw.

Arlen is survived by his beloved wife, Carol. His memory will forever live on through his son, Darren Voss of Lake Park, and his daughter, Denise (Terry) Schneekloth of Marshall, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly (Don) Pierce of Bellingham, Washington, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Arlen was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, son Darwin, sister Helen Hoover, and seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
